Design & Selection

Every toy begins with a simple sketch and a vision. We consider form, function, and the story we want each piece to tell. The design process is slow and thoughtful, allowing ideas to develop naturally.

Once the design is settled, we carefully select materials. Each piece of wood is examined for grain and character. Each fabric is chosen for its texture and color. These initial choices shape the entire making process.

Hand Shaping

For wooden toys, the shaping process is entirely manual. We use traditional hand tools—chisels, planes, and carving knives—to bring each form to life. This slow, meditative work ensures that every curve and surface feels just right.

The process cannot be rushed. Each cut is deliberate, each pass of the plane considered. The wood guides us, revealing its character as we work. What emerges is not just a toy, but a piece shaped by both intention and the natural qualities of the material.

Textile Work

Soft toys require a different kind of care. Each pattern is cut by hand, ensuring precision and attention to detail. The pieces are then stitched together using traditional techniques—every seam carefully placed, every stitch even and strong.

The filling process is gentle and methodical. Natural wool is carefully distributed to create the right shape and feel. The final closing stitches are nearly invisible, creating a seamless finish that honors the handmade nature of the piece.

Finishing Touches

Wooden pieces receive multiple coats of natural oil, each one rubbed in by hand. This process not only protects the wood but enhances its natural beauty, bringing out the grain and creating a silky surface.

Textile pieces may receive hand-embroidered details—small touches that add character without overwhelming the simple beauty of the form. These details are applied with care, each stitch placed with intention.

Final Inspection

Before any toy leaves our atelier, it undergoes a careful inspection. We check every detail, feel every surface, ensure that the piece meets our standards. Only when we're completely satisfied does a toy become ready to find its new home.

This final step is as important as any other. It's our commitment to quality, our promise that every piece we create has received the care and attention it deserves.

Elk detail is overwogen.
